| Until 1982 G1
(the 'G' stands for Groningen) was the only hunebed in the province of
Groningen. In that year a small hunebed was found deep under the clay
near Delfzijl, 25 kilometers to the north. G2
has been restored and can be admired in a museum in Delfzijl.
G1 is an incomplete hunebed. Only 2 capstones are left and there must have been 5. As you can see on the picture one of them is very impressive indeed. Too big for the stone robbers...! The hunebed lies only a few kilometers north of Zuidlaren in Drenthe near D3 and 4. |
