The area in the
neighbourhood of Borger must have been an ideal place for the hunebed-builders
to settle down. Within a radius of only 3 miles there are no less than
11 hunebeds of which 5 near the hamlet of Bronneger. (D21 to 25). I like
D21 most. It is not very large, there are only three (but big!) capstones, but
it makes a fascinating picture leaning against an impressive tree. D21
is also important because of the many artifacts found in this hunebed.
Archaeologists found potsherds from 600 pieces of pottery here. D21 is
one of a twin. D22 is only a few yards away but
is rather insignificant. |
